Şekerbank, a leader in establishing science-based targets to mitigate climate risks, has successfully completed the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) verification process, confirming its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from operations and portfolio activities by 2028.

Şekerbank, one of the first institutions to measure its carbon emissions and share them with international investors, has successfully completed the verification phase of its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitments. The Bank has confirmed its targets to achieve a 43% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2028, compared to a 2021 baseline, and a 100% increase in the use of renewable electricity, which was previously unavailable. This target aligns with the Paris Agreement's ambitious goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

Established through the collaboration of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the SBTi aims to help companies set science-based greenhouse gas emission reduction targets to combat climate change. Şekerbank continues to lead in sustainable banking by verifying its emission reduction targets with the SBTi.
