The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), one of the leading global platforms in climate change reporting, has announced the results of 2022 Climate Change ratings. The efforts of Şekerbank have earned the Bank a leadership-level “A-” score in “CDP Water Security”, improving its ranking by two notches over the last year’s result and placing the Bank among the “Water Leaders” for the year 2022. Şekerbank has also maintained its CDP Climate Change rating of B.
Şekerbank carries out industry-leading initiatives to measure and mitigate the environmental impact of its operations. Şekerbank’s improvements in water management, which aim to ensure responsible use of water resources, have enabled the Bank to reach to leadership-level score of “A-” level in the CDP Water Security rating. This new score is two notches above last year’s result, and has placed Şekerbank among the “Water Leaders” of the program. Şekerbank is a volunteer participant in the CDP Climate Change Program, and has maintained its management-level score of B, proving its commitment to a sustainable, zero-carbon future by publicly disclosing its environmental data.
Voluntary reporting of efforts
Since 2010, Şekerbank has been calculating the carbon footprint resulting from its activities in order to monitor and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, which are the main cause of global warming. Şekerbank voluntarily reports its carbon footprint to the CDP’s Climate Change Program to share its performance with international investors. Şekerbank has also maintained a dedicated focus on responsible management of water, the most vital of resources for life. In 2016, the Bank volunteered to take part in the CDP Water Security program for the first time, where its efforts in this area were recognized with the “CDP Türkiye Water Leadership” award.
