Şekerbank Açıkekran New Media Arts Gallery presents the works of the young emerging talent Mohamed Bourouissa to the art lovers. One of the recently emerging artists of France, the video artist Bourouissa meets the art lovers with his works focused on the life in the present-day societies where materialism rules the world. The artist is examining the questions such as 'How has the money, a material, started to be seen as the only value in our daily life; how has it covered everywhere as a value keeping the secret of success?'

Ali Akay, the curator of the exhibition, reminds that ‘materialism’ has long since been at the center of the life, and points out the fact that Bourouissa is analyzing this issue leaning on a 'realist' art instead of a ‘moralist’ one. Reminding the naturalist and realist author Emile Zola’s renowned novel “Money”, he says that the artist focuses on a social structure where the money has become the bourse and the market.

Ali Akay continued as follows: "In a life in which the people are forced to do anything for money, the life is being lived secretly on the streets and in the houses. In the informal economies, gambling, black market cover the daily lives in the expectation of a new other life. Those who are affected most by this, on the other hand, are the social segment trying sadly to acquire the values that they do not have. In this sense, the money is a vast ocean on the one hand and a repeat on the other hand: As reminded by a song sung by Cici Kızlar from the 1970s, "Money money money, its existence is a trouble, and its lack is an ache..."

The exhibition to be open to visits by the 8th of March in Şekerbank Açıkekran New Media Arts Gallery awaits the art lovers everyday except Mondays and Sundays. One of the works exhibited in Açıkekran, the first and only new-media-oriented gallery of Turkey, is also exhibited in Şekerbank branches simultaneously through special monitors. In this way, the modern art works produced through new media technologies can be watched for 24 hours a day in 9 Şekerbank branches in 8 cities: Istanbul Feneryolu, Ankara Küçükesat and Çankaya, Tekirdağ Alpullu, Ordu, İzmir, Bodrum, Edirne and Mardin.
